August 2000
Well, we're finished with the US leg of the tour. Thank God because I'm the best at shopping but the worst at packing. I met a lot of wonderful people, saw family members and friends, played at some beautiful amphitheaters [the Gorge], received some complimentary reviews, and have read some really sweet E's including some from the past. Also, I fell in love with Denver. I can't believe how beautiful it is there. I intend to go back this winter and try something I've never done before---snow skiing.
The shows were so much fun. The bus travel got old on day one but for me, the music remained fresh. As some of you know, I was off-line for over a week back in July. That was due to a serious problem my "host" had and was unable to resolve. Fortunately, my "assistant web dude" got in touch with St. Al who helped out in a serious way and in my book-earned his wings for all eternity. I don't know what I would have done without him. During this short time off, I had been planning on catching up on some much needed rest. So far, it appears that rest was not meant to be.
Incidentally, after the Tampa show [and I do mean right after], I had to go in the studio to finish up a vocal track for a CD project that was done as a tribute to a friend who was murdered by her ex-husband. Oops. Let me be politically correct...he "allegedly" murdered her. Ricky Lawson stopped by the studio to lend his producing expertise. He wasn't being paid for this but he found my friend's story pretty compelling. In fact, most of the band volunteered their services but unfortunately, we couldn't work it out. As soon as it's completed, I'll let you know more about it. Hip, hip, hooray for my friends that have new CD's: Kina [Girl From The Gutter], Laurenea' [Laurenea' II], Lisa Frazier [Heart Of Gold-only available in Japan at this time], and Moogie [Fire]. Years ago I was part of a wonderful band [SILK] that was ahead of its time. I was one of 3 co-lead singers---the other 2 being Glenn Bostic and Ralph Stewart, AKA Moogie. [short story] Ralph moved to the island of Bonaire for love, and while the tree of love continues to grow, he plays music. He just released his 1st CD, which I think is terrific. If you're interested, check out Moogies's website which if it isn't up right now, should be shortly. So that's what I've been up to. I'm looking forward to Europe and getting back to Paris, which is one of my favorite cities in the world. I might be hard to reach for a while but...[deep voice] I'll be back. Once again, thank you to everyone for your encouragement and kind words. God Bless... Cynthia
